Wiring

I was less than impressed with the stock wiring on my xs850. It was old and since the EFI project was under way, it was time to ditch it.
The complete harness was stripped and I started from scratch.
The handlebars are the first thing that a rider comes in contact with, making the controls pretty important.

Controls

The stock controls were pretty worn, so they were ditched and I picked up some Yamaha YZF R6 switches and a throttle.
The Throttle was neccesary beacuse of the updated throttle bodies, and R6 parts are relatively inexpensive.

With the controls selected, wiring becomes a matter of wire tracing and circuit re-creation.
The controls operate the following circuits:
Electric horn,
Electric starter,
Hi/Low headlights,
Engine kill switch,
Left turn signal,
Right turn signal.

Wiring

I have a healthy hatred of PVC insulated wiring. It's fairly durable, but once you've worked with cross linked poly wiring, you don't really want to go back. PVC is certainly acceptable - it's still copper wiring, but the insulation just isn't as flexible or as nice to work with.
