I don’t have any telco wiring right now – I just run rj-45s everywhere as needed. I do have central co-ax, but it was easier to terminate everything in the attic to the switch provided by directv.

Wow, that looks so organized; it puts my network to shame. I guess the only way to do it right is to first plan it out and dress out all the wires the right way like you obviously did. Unfortunately I didn’t do that from the beginning so mine is, well kind of a mess.

Well, just want to ask if what is best in home network connection, is it cable or wireless? I’m planning to have a LAN connection with my board mate. Can you suggest please?

Great blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere?
A theme like yours with a few simple adjustements would really make my blog
shine. Please let me know where you got your theme. Thank you

I did nearly the same thing in my house. I bought a different brand of rackmount switch though. One thing I added was a row of patch blocks for the telephone and a cable splitter block, that way I can change any RJ45 jac in the house from Ethernet to Telephone as needed (although the wireless is making that less of a concern than it used to be. Another thing I did was to put some co-axial keystones in the patch panel so I could patch the cable TV centrally to the various locations in the house.
I also put a file server in the rack and am planning to add DVR.
